Train and transform
What to define before developing a simulator
A simulator needs a clearly defined practice situation. Start with the decision or skill the team needs to practice.
Situation and participants
Describe the work scenario, roles and mistakes that practice should help people recognize. The level of visual and functional detail is chosen based on that situation.
Practice rules
Agree on which actions are available and what feedback participants receive. The aim is to make the relationship between decisions and consequences understandable.
Channel and access
Define where it will be used: a computer, a mobile device, a training space or an immersive environment. Consider available equipment, session length and support.
Content and confidentiality
Identify which materials can be shared during development and which information must remain restricted. The people responsible for the process must review whether the scenarios accurately represent the work.
